Any road contractor or developer within a margin of 50KM from any city with a population of over 5 lakhs will have to use mixer of plastic waste. The guideline for the same was recently released by the government authority & it clearly show that in case of non availability of waste plastic, the assigned developers will have to take special consent from the ministry  of road & transport highway.

According to sources, the new law will also help the local bodies in terms of income who are not able to generate a good amount of income to sell the waste generate by cities to road developers.

According to a study conducted by Central Pollution Control Board, India generates approximately 56 lakhs tones of waste every year. 60 large cities alone generated around 15,000 tonne of waste. So, after considering these observations seriously, Supreme Court of India pointed out that the nation is sitting on a plastic time bomb & some corrective measures must be taken into considerations.

Even the government is also encouraging the state governments to follow and implement the same policy as it will only bring effective & better results.
